Statewide Drug Testing Program

As Drugs of abuse is a critical factor in criminal behavior, the testing program identifies offenders with substance abuse problems in order to interrupt the addiction cycle, reduce recidivism, and support public safety.

Evidence supports the idea that a properly focused program of frequent drug testing and swift, consistent sanctions for violations, along with formal drug treatment, for those who need it can substantially shrink the volume of drug use and the recidivism rate among probationers. It is the goal of the drug testing program to incorporate these facts into its program.

The goal is to identify offenders with substance abuse problems to reduce recidivism through the system, with public safety being one of our primary concerns. Identifying these individuals lets us provide appropriate level of treatment for drug addiction, and to rehabilitate these users into productive citizens.
